The St. Lucie County Health Department provides quality and individualized health care services to the community at an affordable rate. These services are provided by highly qualified and experienced family practice doctors, pediatricians, nurse practitioners, nurses, nutritionists, and case managers. We offer discounted rates for un-insured and under-insured patients who meet the eligibility requirements. Services will not be denied due to inability to pay.
A wide range of health care services are available to the community including:
Caring for the Health of Mothers and Children
We focus on helping pregnant women get into early prenatal care, support them with education, referrals and one on one support during their pregnancy, birth and post-partum period. The goals are to improve pregnancy & birth outcomes and reduce infant mortality by ensuring babies make it to their first birthday. Babies & children become healthier with breastfeeding support, well child check ups, and school health programs.
Tracking Diseases and Stopping Them in Their Tracks
Keeping Floridians safer by tracking patterns of disease, investigating and containing outbreaks and developing solutions are unique responsibilities of the Department of Health. Working with health care providers, we meet the challenge of reducing acute and chronic illness and disease.
Health counseling and education are available in both classroom settings and a one-on-one basis. In addition, we provide sexually transmitted disease (STD) and HIV/AIDS training to community agencies and organizations. To improve the prevention of communicable diseases, we conduct systematic disease surveillance and data collection activities for encephalitis, staphylococcus, STDs, etc.
