Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women (PEPW) is a program that helps pregnant women get healthcare quickly while they wait to see if they qualify for Medicaid in Florida. This program is for all pregnant women, and it gives them temporary Medicaid coverage while they wait for their Medicaid application to be processed.
We recommend applying for PEPW before applying for Medicaid. This allows pregnant women to start prenatal care right away. Medicaid eligibility takes about 45 to 60 days to decide if someone qualifies, so PEPW helps pregnant women have access to the care they need during that time. This includes things like doctor visits, tests, and vitamins for a healthy pregnancy.
Our staff are also available to help complete the Medicaid application process. For more information or assistance with signing up for PEPW and Medicaid, please call 772-462-3800.
