Public Notice of Pollution

Environmental Health

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has established a method for regulated entities to submit Public Notices of Pollution  and a website where the notices will be posted online for the public.

This statute requires owners or operators of facilities responsible for reportable pollution releases, as defined by that statute, to submit reports within 24 hours of the discovery of the release to DEP, and for the DEP to post the information online within 24 hours.

As required, the DEP will make available on its website  all notices received, as well as offer an e-mail subscription service for the public, including local governments, health departments, news media and other interested persons to be automatically informed of notices submitted for their location(s) of interest.

If you have any questions regarding submitting a notice or reporting requirements, please contact your respective DEP Regulatory District Office for assistance.
