Pools and Spas

Environmental Health

Authority given by Florida Statute 381 and Florida Administrative Code 64E-9 is responsible for inspecting, monitoring and permitting public swimming pools and spas. There are over 400 facilities at hotels, motels, condominiums, parks, schools and social and civic organizations.

Environmental Health staff currently permits and inspects those public swimming pools and spas twice each year. EH also reviews monthly reports submitted by hotels, condos and apartment complexes. In April 2012, local building departments were given sole authority to issue plan approval and construction approval of public swimming pools. Additional information is available on the Florida Department of Health website and can be accessed from the information link below.
