In addition to the 315,000-plus permanent residents, St. Lucie County is seasonal home to many seasonal workers who service our agriculture industry It is the role of the Health Department to monitor migrant living facilities to maintain a clean and healthful standard.  This is done through permitting and inspection of migrant residential facilities under Chapter 64E-14, Florida Administrative Code.  St. Lucie County also has a Minimum Housing Ordinance that monitors and addresses conditions of rental housing in the unincorporated areas of the county.  Ordinance 93-005 is based upon the SBCCI Standard Housing Code and establishes minimal acceptable standards.
