Hurricane Season is Here!

St. Lucie County’s Public Safety Department, in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie and other agencies, have scheduled an open house for residents with special needs to pre-register, as well as see what is expected of them if they plan to utilize the Special Needs Shelter during an emergency event. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30.

The Fenn Center was constructed in 2008 to serve as St. Lucie County’s Medical Special Needs Shelter in the event of a disaster. The facility is equipped with the necessary infrastructure to handle patients with specific needs, including accessible showers, kitchen facilities, additional electrical outlets and medical staff.

Where: Havert L. Fenn Center – 2000 Virginia Avenue - Fort Pierce, FL 34982
What: To remind residents with special needs that they should pre-register if they plan to utilize the Special Needs Shelter during an emergency event.
