April is National STD Month

(St. Lucie County, FL) - April is national STD (sexually transmitted disease) awareness month and in recognition of the month Your STD Help is offering free clinics throughout the county to get everyone tested. The Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie has scheduled the following STD events:

Free testing, education and counseling will be available at the following upcoming events:

  • April 19 - 2PM-6PM Teen Zone- DOH-St. Lucie 5150 NW Milner Drive (No cost testing for HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia)
  • April 21 - 130PM-330PM Dreamland Park - Citrus Ave/25th Street Ft. Pierce (No cost testing for HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia)
  • April 22 - 10AM-2PM Club Med (No cost testing for HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia)
  • April 24 - 11AM-5PM Treasure Coast Pride Fest - PSL Civic Center (No cost testing for HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia)

STDs(sexually transmitted diseases) are preventable and many STDs can be easily diagnosed and treated. Knowing your STD status is a critical step to stopping STD transmission. If you know you are infected, then you can take steps to protect yourself and your partners. Untreated STDs can lead to long term health problems as well as reproductive complications such as infertility.
