Clint Sperber, Administrator

Clint Sperber, as administrator of the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County since April 2015, is responsible for the oversight and supervision of public health programs. Mr. Sperber administers a $13 million budget and 180 employees in a county with over 292,000 residents. The agency is involved in many community projects such as promoting health were we live, work, learn and play; reducing unintentional injuries, and diagnosing and investigating diseases.

Clint is the former deputy administrator for Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County and currently serves as the Health and Medical Co-chair for the Region 5 Domestic Security Task Force, comprising of nine counties in central Florida. He serves in a leadership role and works very closely with elected officials and other community leaders to reduce gang violence in St. Lucie. He helped create a Safe Kids Coalition focusing on prevention of unintentional injuries in children and was appointed by the State Surgeon General and Secretary for Health to serve as Interim Director of the Division of Emergency Preparedness and Community Support. He was also appointed to the National Association of County City Health Official’s (NACCHO) 11- member Injury Violence Prevention Work Group.

Clint has a long history of involvement with health and medical preparedness. He was chosen as one of two Florida Department of Health employees to represent Florida at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pandemic influenza exercises in March and October 2008. He has served in leadership roles during several declared disaster, is a member of Central Florida’s Disaster Medical Assistance Team (FL-6) and State Medical Assistance Team (SMRT 5). He has also served as a national reviewer for a public health preparedness recognition program, Project Public Health Ready.

Clint earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University in 1994 and completed his Master of Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University in 1997.
